Our ferret journey.
We were looking for the right pet for us and we had stumbled across a Twitch streamer who had ferrets. We fell in love with little Eve in February 2013. Ferret math happened and within the first year, we ended up having 4 ferrets in total: Eve, Lily, Daisy, and Wally. We added Rosie soon after in 2015.
Due to health issues I saw in the pet store ferrets, we wanted to find ferret breeders who were trying to better the breed. In 2017, I added JBF’s Ruby Slipper (Ruby) and NB’s Mr. Sweetface (Odie). In 2018, we attended our first ferret shows with Odie and Ruby, where we learned so much more about breeders and judging ferrets. JBF’s Ruby Slipper won Alter Ferret of the Year in 2018. Since then, we have been consistently going to AFA-sanctioned shows, showing ferrets from private breeders as well as late-alter companion ferrets. In 2018, Corinna began stewarding at the American Ferret Association (AFA) shows and in 2019, she became a color specialty judge. In 2023, Corinna is now a title judge. She is also the AFA Director of Shows & Special Events.
Our journey now includes being shelter volunteers for the Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Association in State College, PA. Many of the shelter ferrets in our care require medication or are elderly — and we are their forever home until they pass.
In 2021, we had our first litter from NB’s Mr. Sweetface of LG (Odie) x NB’s Let’s Dance Starlight of LG (Star). Our hope is to continue the betterment of the species with emphasis on their health and their disposition. All ferrets in our home are pets first — they are family members. Our ferrets have daily interactions with us and have their own rooms. They are allowed supervised playtime in the main living quarters when we are home.
